Tonight’s basketball games in Union Grove will be Girls and Boys Varsity only. All JV games have been cancelled. The girls game will start at 4:00 and the boys will follow immediately after.

Hello Big Sandy Family, Out of an abundance of caution, Big Sandy ISD will delay its start time until 10:00 am tomorrow due to possible icy conditions. All busses will run on a two hour delay. Staff will report at 9:30 am. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this tricky weather.

Student Council received a $500 grant from Carter Blood Care. Qualifying schools had to have hosted a minimum of three blood drives. Thank you to all those who have donated. Please continue to donate.

Today, we will again have to adjust and combine our bus routes due to a shortage of bus drivers. Students who ride the busses that run on FM 1002 and FM 1795 will be a part of this combination. We expect the last group of students to be dropped off around 5:30 pm. This is the same route combination that the district ran for a couple of days last week. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are working on finding more bus drivers in the district. Thank you for your patience.

If you or anyone you know is interested in driving a bus for the district, give our Director of Transportation, Mr. Larry Strickland a call. We can always use more drivers in our district.

The power is out on campus again this afternoon. Therefore all volleyball games have been canceled. Hoping for a better day tomorrow!

Due to today’s power outage, Big Sandy ISD will cancel school for the remainder of the day. If your student came to school, we will contact you personally to pick them up. All bus riders who had guardians at home have been dropped off. All extracurricular activities scheduled for this evening are still on as a planned. Thank you for your patience the last two days as we have dealt with some irregular issues in our district.

The Administrative team and Transportation Department at Big Sandy ISD will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions throughout the evening and into the early morning hours. If the need arises to adjust the school day, we will announce the news on our Facebook page, website and text messaging system. Student safety is the most important factor in making decisions regarding the school day.

Today, the district was alerted of a possible tornado in the Big Sandy area. Out of an abundance of caution, the district went into a tornado lockdown. At 11:00 am, we were given the all clear and students returned to their classes. Thank you to all of our staff and administrators for keeping our kids safe. We will continue to monitor the weather today and alert you if anything else occurs. Thanks for trusting us with your children.

April 21st - Headstart, Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration

Our softball game for tonight 4/19 has been changed to start at 7:00 pm due to umpire issues. We will start our Senior Night Ceremony at 6:45 pm.

Big Sandy ISD is proud to announce Mr. Mike Moore as its new Secondary Principal. Mr. Moore comes to the district after serving as an administrator in Alba-Golden, Spring Hill, and Lindale Independent School Districts. Before entering education, Mr. Moore spent ten years in the corporate world but finally found his calling in the classroom. “As a principal, I work diligently to provide leadership and direction for our campus that empowers teachers and staff to effectively educate and encourage all students to achieve success in life,” said Moore. “As I move forward in my educational leadership career, I will continue to work to inspire future leaders and develop innovative strategies and programs that help all students reach their potential.” Mr. Moore encourages individuals to take risks and step out of their comfort zones. He believes in celebrating students in campus activities and looks forward to building a sense of belonging and ownership in the Big Sandy ISD school community. “I’m excited to welcome Mr. Moore to the Wildcat Family,” said Mike Burns, Big Sandy ISD Superintendent. “I believe he will challenge our students, staff, and community to seek ways for our school district to improve. I look forward to him getting started in the district.”

There will be a PTO Meeting today, April 6, 2022 from 4-5 pm in the Elementary Library. They will be discussing Teacher Appreciation Week, Fundraisers for the 2022-2023 School Year and Officer Positions. PTO is for parents of any school age child. We hope to see you there.

Due to the overnight storms in the area, the Internet in the district was down for most of the morning. Because of that, today’s scheduled Online English I STAAR exam has been rescheduled for tomorrow. The English II test will still be given on Thursday. Thanks to our students for their patience today!

he Secondary Black History Program has been rescheduled for Friday, April 8th in the school's auditorium. The program will begin at 10:00. We hope to see everyone there.

This morning, while traveling to a tennis tournament, the van carrying our athletes hit a deer. All of our coaches and athletes are okay and they are still planning on participating in the tournament. Thanks to our coach and transportation department for keeping our kids safe and springing into action to get our kids to their destination.

The Black History Program that was originally rescheduled for yesterday at the secondary campus is postponed, due to students taking the ASVAB. As soon as we can confirm our speaker, we will announce the new date. Thank you for understanding.
