We’re proud to introduce our brand new 14-passenger activity bus—ready to serve our students, our organizations, and every opportunity that lies ahead. From competitions to events and everything in between, this bus represents more than transportation… It represents commitment, growth, and Wildcat pride.
With a fresh new wrap designed to showcase who we are, this bus will carry our students forward—literally and figuratively—as they continue to achieve great things.
At Big Sandy ISD, we’re not standing still… we’re moving forward, investing in our students, and getting better every single day.
We are the Wildcats—and the best is yet to come.

His passion for education, commitment to student success, and ability to inspire and motivate make him a true difference-maker every day.
As William Butler Yeats said, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
Coach Willoughby lights that fire in his students daily.
Congratulations, Coach Willoughby!

This work reflects strong collaboration between the Board and Superintendent, with a shared commitment to student success and a clear focus on the future. Together, we are setting the direction that will guide our district’s growth, strengthen opportunities for our students, and build on the great things already happening in Big Sandy.
We’re excited about what’s ahead and proud to move forward—together!

Congratulations to our 3rd Nine Weeks Attendance Challenge winner with 94.11%!
Every Day Matters — Show Up, Big Sandy! 💙💛

As Superintendent of Big Sandy Independent School District, I remain committed to ensuring every campus has the leadership and support needed for our students to be successful. As we have looked closely at the needs of our junior high campus, it became clear that additional leadership and focused attention are necessary to help us continue moving forward. In response, the district has created the position of Junior High Principal to strengthen academics, support our teachers, and build a positive, student-centered environment where all Wildcats can succeed.
It is with great excitement that I announce Steffany Jewell as our new Junior High Principal.
Steffany is a lifelong member of the Big Sandy community, a graduate of Big Sandy ISD, and someone who understands firsthand what makes our school and town so special. She began her career here as a classroom teacher and quickly developed a passion for helping all students succeed through supportive, inclusive learning environments.
With more than 10 years in education, Steffany has served as a classroom teacher, content mastery teacher, instructional coach, RTI coordinator, 504 coordinator, and assistant principal. She brings a strong skill set, deep knowledge, and a proven ability to support student success. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University, along with her principal certification.
Steffany and her husband, Seth, have been married for 25 years and are proud to have raised their family right here in Big Sandy. Their three children are all third-generation Wildcat graduates who have continued their education at Texas A&M University. Their roots in this community run deep, and that connection is something she carries into her work every day.
Steffany shared that she is deeply honored to return to the district that helped shape her and is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community she calls home. She looks forward to working alongside our staff, students, and families and is ready to get to work with the belief that we can “learn with passion, lead with purpose, and live with success.”
Please join me in welcoming Steffany Jewell into this important role. I am confident her leadership will make a meaningful difference for our students, our staff, and our community.
Wildcat way,
Rhonda D. Turner
Superintendent of Schools
