Be a Bucket Filler!

(Based on the book, “Have You Filled a Bucket Today? A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids” By Carol McCloud)

What is a bucket?
Everyone carries around an invisible bucket that holds our good thoughts/feelings about ourselves.

What is a bucket filler?
People who are kind to others, treat people with respect, and care for one another are bucket fillers. Everyone can be a bucket filler! When you fill a bucket you feel good about yourself and fill your own bucket, too.

What is a bucket dipper?
People who are disrespectful, bully, or treat people in a mean way are considered bucket dippers. They take away the good feelings carried by others. Often times, they do so because their own bucket is empty. When you dip into other people’s buckets, you are also dipping into your own bucket.

This year we are encouraging students to be Bucket Fillers every day. As we study our character traits each six weeks, we will discuss how each trait (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship) helps make us better Bucket Fillers. Please encourage your child to continue filling buckets at home. I will be recognizing students each six weeks who have excelled at filling buckets.

1st Six Weeks Character Trait – TRUSTWORTHINESS (August 28th – September 29th)

To be trustworthy means that you are honest, reliable, and loyal. You stand up and do the right thing. Trustworthy people have a good reputation because others can count on them.

When we have our award ceremony for the 1st six weeks, students will be encouraged to wear blue symbolizing Trustworthiness.
