Charms helps students and parents manage band-related information including finances, forms due, and instrument and uniform check out. Charms also allows us to communicate with parents and students on a massive level efficiently.
SmartMusic is our online performance-based assessment tool. Students receive their assignments then play along with recordings that the director then listens to.
Big Sandy ISD students compete within the Association of Texas Small School Bands.
The Big Sandy Band Program is an award-winning 2A high school band and 1C middle school specializing in military marching style consisting of grades 8-12 at the high school, a 7th grade intermediate band and 6th grade beginning band. The high school band has two seasons, marching and concert. During the marching season, the band prepares for UIL Marching Contests, performs at all football games, and marches in community parades. During the concert season, the band prepares for UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest. The band also participates in All-Region Contest, UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest, Junior/Senior Honor Band, Yamboree, Big Sandy Christmas parade, and the Big Sandy ISD Veteran's Day program.
The mission and goal of the Big Sandy Band Program is to be successful through the teaching of determination, team-building skills, discipline, respect, responsibility and music education.
