Learning Goals and Expectations

TEKS requires every child to become not only a listener of music, but also a creator of music.  This requires every child to learn to read, compose and perform music at their given level and to their greatest ability.  Music requires every student to build higher level thinking skills.  Through participating in music students must learn to analyze, synthesize, evaluate, apply and transfer their skills.  Students will then be able to knowledgably participate in what has long been known to be the one true "international language" - MUSIC.
