All About Mrs. Arrington
Born and raised in a small East Texas town, I attended Athens high School, and began my college education immediately following graduation. However, I postponed finishing college for ten years in favor of marriage and raising a family. My wonderful husband, Robbie, was born and raised in the Pritchett area, and I have lived there for almost thirty years. We have two children, a daughter named Melani, who currently lives in Rexburg, Idaho and a son named Bryan, who is currently attending The University of Louisiana at Monroe, majoring in Pharmacy Medicine.
I have two degrees from the University of Texas at Tyler, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music. Over the past nineteen years, I have taught Jr. High Choir and Language Arts: 3rd and 4th grade (specializing in Gifted Education); served as a District Coordinator/Teacher of Gifted and Talented Services for Gilmer ISD; and am currently serving as the General Music teacher and Director of the Big Sandy Elementary Wildcat Chorale.
In the town where I grew up, we had an outstanding K-12 music program. My music teachers were my inspiration and greatest mentors. Therefore, from a very early age, my ultimate "dream job" was to enrich children's lives with a love of learning and a love of music. Fifteen years experience in the regular and pullout classrooms has proven to be invaluable in coordinating the Big Sandy Elem. music program and I wouldn't trade those years for anything.
I believe that each child is a unique and precious individual and must be approached that way, building on their strengths, interests, and gifts. Children must be respected with the same level of respect one would give another adult. I expect the best from the children I have the privilege to teach - AND I GET IT! Thank you for the honor and opportunity of working with your child.
