FFA Show Team  

The Big Sandy FFA show team had a record year in Houston last week.  The show team hauled 9 head to the worlds largest livestock show and rodeo.  JW Howell exhibited the Reserve Junior Division Champion Simmental calf and was a class winner as well.   Bailee McDonald exhibited a class winner in the Red Brahman Show and went on to capture Junior Division Reserve Champion and then the Overall Reserve Champion honors.  Hunter Denton exhibited a second in class winner in the Santa Gertruduis show.  The show team also received a major honor by placing 9^th overall in the barns at Houston for the Herdsman Award out of over 600 schools.  Senior Cameron Hitt made the show with his Duroc Barrow entry in the market barrow show and placed 10^th overall to land a spot in the sale.  Hailee Sigler caught a calf at the rodeo in the Calf Scramble where she will receive 1500.00 to add to the 800.00 she received from the San Antonio livestock Show and Rodeo to purchase a new show calf.  Matt McKinley won the top herdsman award in the calf scramble show.  This is the best we have ever done at a major show especially at the largest one in the world.  Big Sandy should feel proud to be so well represented by these outstanding students to win these awards and accomplishments.
