Updates as of January
15, 2010 -
On Monday, January 11
the steel roofing joist were delivered for the elementary addition
and the iron workers started installing them. A crane was in place and
they were able to install all the beams. The crew then spent Tuesday and
Wednesday wielding braces in place and installing the bracing for the
A/C units that will be placed on the roof. The masons were able to be
back to work this week. They had a late start Monday because of the
freezing weather. They started around 11:00 am on Monday on the front of
the school with a block wall that ran from JH to the auditorium on the
inside of the building. Tuesday and Wednesday the crew moved to the back
of the school and finished the brick work on the science lab and
continued laying split face block and brick on the elementary addition.
On Thursday the rain sent all crews home. On Friday steel erectors
started installing decking and masons worked on elementary.

Updates as of January 8,
2010 -
During the first three days of winter break construction crew were able
to start the exterior block work on the elementary addition. Also, the
electrical crew was able to replace the main electrical switch gear for
the school. This has needed to be done for a few years because the
electrical system that was in place was at the max of its capacity.
During this time the concrete crews formed and poured the foundation of
the new walkway to the visitor’s side of the football field. After three
work days during the break all crews took a week and a half off. Monday
of this week (01/04/10) crews were back at work. The masonry crew had a
slow start Monday because of freezing temperatures. They were able to
lay block for approximately four hours on Monday, six hours on Tuesday
and six hours on Wednesday. They had to cancel masonry work Thursday and
Friday because of weather. The concrete crews were able to form the
retaining wall at the football field Monday and Tuesday. They poured the
concrete on Wednesday. The dirt contractor finished their work on the
elementary play ground on Wednesday; the sight is ready for the concrete
crews next week.

Updates as of December
11, 2009 -This
past week was mostly mason and A/C work on the construction. The A/C
contractor completed installing the duct work in the science labs and
installed new curbs on the roof for the A/C units to sit on and
installed the units. Masonry is completed in the science area and the
steel erectors are scheduled to be here next Wednesday to start
installing the roof joist and decking on the Elementary addition and the
science room.

Updates as of December 4, 2009- Masonry crews have almost completed
exterior walls of Elementary expansion.

Updates as of November
13, 2009-This
past week was excellent for construction outside. Masonry crews started
Monday laying block at the elementary addition. The crews started with
the expectation of having to move back inside with the chance of rain
mid week. The rain held off and they were able to say outside all week
and accomplished a great deal of the main walls.

November 6, 2009 -
No work was done on the elementary end.

October 31, 2009 -
Once again this week the weather (rain) hasn’t allowed any outside
construction. Hopefully next week with be better.

Updates
as of October 23, 2009 -
The concrete crew
worked extra long on Friday the 16th and were able to have
the slab behind the elementary and the science class rooms ready to pour
concrete on Monday the 19th. The weather was ideal for Monday
and they were able to pour a little over 130 yards of concrete. The
concrete floors at elementary and the science labs are ready for the
block walls to be started. Blocks were delivered on Tuesday and
Wednesday of this week and on Friday they were starting preparations to
start with the block walls.

Updates
as of October 16, 2009 -
The
construction at the school has been hampered by all the rain the past
two weeks. Numerous attempts were made to make some progress. Finally,
construction crews have been able to install form boards on the
elementary addiction on the 15th and add lime to the dirt in
an attempt to dry it out so they can put down the vapor (plastic)
barrier between the dirt and the concrete. If all goes well the concrete
crew should be able to pour concrete Tuesday, October 20th.

Elementary Expansion
updates as of October 2, 2009 - This week construction crews laid
foundation block on footers that were poured last week. All underground plumbing was
installed at the elementary addition.

updates as of September 25, 2009 - This past week the concrete
foundation was poured for elementary on Thursday. The foundation for
the science lab extension was poured Thursday also.

Contractors were not able to work outside this week due to rain.

updates as of September 11, 2009 -
Behind elementary nothing has changed
this past week. Rebar plans are in the concrete contractors hand as
of 9/10/09. They had to wait until they received this to start the
foundation work for the elementary and JH/HS.

updates as of August 28, 2009 -
The awning and concrete in the
back of the elementary school, formally known as the bus drop off and
pick up area, has been removed. The dirt work has been completed,
preparing the site for the future classrooms. |
