January 17, 2018 - School Closed
School will be closed due to icy roads.
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! We hope you and your family are enjoying an incredible summer and finding time to spend some quality time together. As we begin this new school year, I want to encourage you to join us again this year for our annual “Meet the Teacher” which is scheduled for Thursday, August 24th from 4:00-6:00. This will be a wonderful time for parents and students to meet the teachers for the new school year.
A Back to School Bash sponsored by the Love Big Sandy Project and community organizations will be held on Saturday, August 19th from 10:00-1:00 at the elementary school gym. Complimentary haircuts, school supplies, shoes, hot dogs, drinks, and snow cones will be available. Please come join us for this special event.
Additionally, we have several other special events that we would like to share with our parents. Our Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start Roundup is scheduled for Wednesday, August 2nd from 9:00-11:00. Students must be four years of age on or before September 1st and meet eligibility requirements in order to be placed in a Pre-Kindergarten/Head Start classroom. Big Sandy Elementary will host our annual “Grandparent’s Breakfast” on Friday, September 8th beginning at 7:30 in the student center. Additionally, our campus will be hosting our annual “Family Night” on October 24th from 5:30-7:00. Not only will parents have the opportunity to visit with teachers and enjoy the hotdog dinner, but parents will receive information regarding your child's educational program for the 2017-2018 school year. You will not want to miss this event!!!
As always, we appreciate our parents and families for all your help and support and we are excited about the “new year” as we all know that our parents are the best! We appreciate your interest in your child’s education and thank you for your partnership in this journey toward success for ALL children.
Finally, our office is available to serve you and your family regarding any needs that you may have. Please call if you should have questions regarding any facet of your child’s educational program. Also, watch the elementary site for important links that might be helpful in working with your child at home and like us on “FACEBOOK” for all of our latest happenings posted.
Once again, on behalf of our entire staff, I want to thank you for your continued support as we prepare to begin another successful school year.
