Dear Families,

It is amazing that we are ready to begin the Fifth Six Weeks grading period!  So far this year has really been fast and busy.

In March, our district always celebrates Texas Public School Week with an Open House program for the community.  Students in all elementary grades are invited to participate in a special performance by the PE Department.  This year you will be able to see “Dancing with the Stars” beginning at 6:30 in the High School Gym (the “new” gym).  Following this program, our elementary classrooms will be open from 7:00 to 8:30.  We hope you will take this opportunity to visit your child’s room and see what they have been learning.

Students continue to work hard in order to be successful on TAKS testing this spring.  Students who master the skills for the tests at their grade level and receive passing scores will begin their summer vacation a little earlier than the rest of us.  Their last day will be May 29th.  Other students will be finishing up on June 3rd.  Remember students must pass the tests for their grade level to receive these special vacation days.  Please join us in encouraging students to work hard and to do their best in all testing situations.

These are the tests students must pass at each grade level:Third grade students must pass Math and Reading tests.

Fourth grade students must pass Math, Reading, and Writing tests.

Fifth grade students must pass Math, Reading, and Science tests.

Tests dates are: Wednesday, March 3rd—Grade 4 Writing

                        Tuesday, April 6th—Grade 5 Mathematics

                        Wednesday, April 7th—Grade 5 Reading

Tuesday, April 27th—Grade 3 and Grade 4 Mathematics

                        Wednesday, April 28th—Grade 3 and 4 Reading

                        Thursday, April 29th—Grade 5 Science

We continue to believe in Finishing Strong!  As we approach these testing dates our staff will continue to help our students achieve their goals by encouraging them to work hard in class and at home as they encounter new learning experiences.

We hope you will find opportunities to be involved in your child’s education.  By working together we can make this a great learning experience for every child.   Our staff always values your ideas and concerns.  Please visit with your child’s teacher to be sure that we are all working together for our students’ success.

If I can be of any service to you, please call the school office at 903-636-5287, extension 226.
