Dear Families,
Summer is quickly coming to an end and we are so excited about the 2010-2011 school year. Even with new construction in all areas of our campus, teachers and administrators have been busy planning for the new year. Many of our classroom and special department teachers have been working throughout the summer (at school and at home) to be sure they are ready for exciting educational opportunities.
Our campus will have some exciting changes this year with the remodeling and construction completed. We have new classrooms and a secure entrance to the building. All people entering the school from the elementary parking area will come through the doors on the north entrance of the building. Bus riders will be dropped off behind the school as in past years. We believe the new additions and changes will make our campus safer for all involved in the school environment.
We have several faculty changes and new additions to our campus. I know you will join me in welcoming Mrs. Dell Hitt, who will be teaching Second Grade. Mrs. Candace Self has relocated to First Grade. Mrs. Patti Rozell will be our media specialist in the Elementary Library. Mrs. Pat Lavender will be our Technology Lab teacher. Mrs. Kim McDonald will be teaching in the CEI/ELS Reading Lab. Mrs. Barbara Elliott will be the new TEAM room teacher. In addition, please join me in welcoming these members of the Upshur County Co-Op: Ms. Rhonda Pulis will be our diagnostician, Ms. Marisha George will be our Speech Director, and Ms. Melanie Covington will be working with our campus as RTI Coordinator. We hope you will be able to meet our new teachers, welcome others back to school, and look over our new facility, when we have “Meet the Teacher” night on August 19th from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.
We hope this year you will find opportunities to be involved in your child’s education. By working together we can make this year a great learning experience for every child. Our staff always values your ideas and concerns. Please come to “Meet the Teacher” for a brief visit with your child’s teacher and continue to be in touch so that we are all working together for our students’ success.
The Elementary campus motto for this year is “The KEY is ME!” We will be reminding everyone throughout the year that our campus success rests in the staff’s and the student’s efforts. Each person is a key member of our team and our goal of “Exemplary” status rests on all of us.
Our staff will be encouraging students to work hard in class and at home to achieve their goals as they encounter new learning experiences.
If I can be of any service to you, please call the school office at 903-636-5287, extension 226.
