Meet our Varsity Cheerleaders!

The Big Sandy Varsity Cheerleaders for the 2007-2008 season are Head Cheerleader Jenna Rushing, Juniors Ashley Walsh, Leslie Pruitt, Ivettee Garcia, Kandas Dunn, Jamie Klock, Sophomore Jaci Eaves, and Freshmen Katie Baird, Jazz Chalk, Savanna Reed, and mascot Erica Pharr. 

The cheerleaders started the year off with a bang at NCA camp this past summer at Tarelton State University in Stephenville, Texas.  They received six superior ribbons on all of their evaluations by the NCA staff which is the highest you can obtain.  They were rewarded the S.P.O.T. Award (Safety & Spotting, Perfection before Progression, Organization, Technique).  The squad was also rewarded a bid to the NCA national competition, which consist of squads competing all over the country. 

Out of the ten cheerleaders on the squad eight of them were nominated to try-out for All-American.  Jenna Rushing, Jamie Klock and Ivette Garcia tried out and made the All-American Squad where they have the opportunity to go to Hawaii and cheer at the Pro-Bowl Football Game in February 2008.   Mascot Erica Pharr was also named All-American Mascot. The varsity squad sponsor is April Fleming.

The junior high squad sponsor is Michelle Horn.
